Networking events can be incredibly fun and unbelievably effective when it comes to driving a business forward.

You might meet a business coach who provides invaluable advice for your enterprise. You could meet your next big client, or a business that aligns so well with yours that you decide to partner up. Or perhaps you’ll meet someone who will one day be part of your team as you grow.

'

That’s the excitement of a networking event, especially in such a small area like the Sea to Sky, as you never know who you’ll meet or what they could do for your business.

With that in mind, here are five of the best local events to attend to expand your network, and potentially your brand.

  1. Chamber Après events

Both the Whistler Chamber and Squamish Chamber host regular networking events.

They are called ‘Après 5’ in Squamish and ‘Chamber Après’ in Whistler, and both are held monthly at various locations. Both events are designed to offer relaxed networking opportunities for local businesspeople, with food and drinks provided.

Head along to a few of these events and start making connections with other local movers and shakers.

  1. Trickster’s Hideout Monthly Entrepreneur Meetups

Trickster’s Hideout is a community hub in Squamish that regularly hosts events, live music, and shows. On the third Thursday of each month, they also host an Entrepreneur Meetup.

This is a casual networking space with drinks and snacks, and the chance to talk to other entrepreneurs to stay motivated, share ideas, problem solve, and generally have a great time.

  1. The WNORTH Conference

WNORTH is a community for professional women in leadership and management positions. They run various virtual and in-person events and programs every year, but one of the biggest is the annual conference.

Held in spring, this is a three-day event that hosts visionary leaders from around the world for keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, workshops, and more.

The 2025 event will be held at the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler, with mentorship opportunities and plenty of chances to connect with other incredible women in business.

  1. Business Excellence Awards

The Squamish Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards and Whistler Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards are both huge business events on the annual calendar, and both offer great opportunities for networking.

These events are some of the most formal on the networking calendar, with themes for dress and sit-down dinners as part of the festivities. Both occasions showcase local business leaders and celebrate entrepreneurship in the Sea to Sky, which is why you will usually see Community Futures Howe Sound in attendance at each of them!

  1. Whistler’s Inside Scoop

Twice per year, Tourism Whistler hosts the Inside Scoop at the Whistler Conference Centre.

This event is free to attend, and showcases dozens of local businesses, each with a stall showcasing their products and services. You can sign up for a stall or simply go along as a visitor and meet countless locals to talk business.

Most stalls will offer some kind of interactive game or freebie to help engagement, which creates a fun and festive atmosphere in which to meet new people and discuss your work.
